We happily announce Emmanuel Rodríguez Chaves, recipient of a Monte Azul Achievement Fellowship Award, funded by visitors to Monte Azul.
Also known as the Patron’s Fellowship award, this prestigious award is an innovative Monte Azul initiative which allows a visitors’ stay at our spectacular property to help underwrite residencies at Monte Azul. Artists who reside in Costa Rica are selected by an anonymous committee of peers and invited to attend a residency at no cost to the artist. (Read more about it here)
Emmanuel Rodríguez Chaves has chosen to utilize his two-week residency to delve into a medium he has not engaged with in some time. He anticipates that his interactions with the natural environment of his native Costa Rica will enable him to contextualize these experiences within the thematic framework of his oeuvre. This exploration will culminate in a printed edition, fully leveraging the capabilities of Monte Azul’s Press Studio.
